Nutrients

What is PH?

pH stands for potential hydrogen. It is measured on a scale of 0-14 and is used to tell us how acidic or alkaline the water source is. Pure water typically has a neutral ph of 7. The solution is acidic if the pH is below 7 and alkaline if the ph is above 7.

Is measuring pH important?

Yes, plants best absorb nutrients grown hydroponically between a pH range of 5.3-6.3.

What is EC?

EC stands for Electrical Conductivity. It is used to measure the strength of the nutrient solution.

How do I convert EC to ppm?

Can I use FloraFlex Nutrients with a doser or fertigation system?

Can I use FloraFlex Nutrients with a doser or fertigation system?

How do I make a concentrated stock solution for a doser or fertigation system?

Do I need any additives with FlorFlex Nutrients?

No, you do not need anything other than the No Cal Mag Full Tilt Schedule.

Are there things you should not be using with the FloraFlex Nutrient line such as calcium or other additives?

V1 and B1 contain Calcium. Additional Calcium is not needed. We recommend keeping it super simple with our line, only adding a Silica if you prefer. The more stuff you start to add the more you have to play with the ratios of our nutrients to adjust for the NPK levels of the additives.

How do I make a stock solution with FloraFlex Nutrients?

Using the 1:100 ratio you would mix 200 grams per gallon and inject at 1% (38ml) per gallon.

What is the optimal water temperature for feeding my plants?

67 to 72 degrees fahrenheit.

Why can’t the 1’s and 2’s be combined in a concentrated batch?

In concentrated amounts the Calcium from the 1’s and Magnesium from the 2’s will fall out and leave your plants with deficiencies.

How long is the stock tank or concentrated batch good for after being mixed?

Roughly 6 months, it has the same shelf life as a bottled nutrient once it is opened.

Can I use no CalMag with FloraFlex Fertilizer?

Yes, just use the recommended grams per gallon.

If I use CalMag with FloraFlex Nutrients but want to stop in the middle of a run, can I?

Yes, just follow the grams per gallon and your plants should be healthier than ever as our nutrients work better at a higher ratio with no CalMag additives.

Why don’t I need CalMag with FloraFlexNutrients?

Because Calcium is already in parts 1 and Magnesium is in parts 2.

Can I use FloraFlex Nutrients with or in soil?

Yes, our nutrients are compatible with all growing mediums. Soil typically requires less EC than hydroponics, 1.6-1.8 is usually a safe range depending on your soil of course.

Can I run the Full Tilt Schedule at Full Strength in soil?

Not all soil is created equal so it really depends on the soil itself and what elements are available in it etc. Typically starting at a lower EC (1.6-1.8) and adjusting based on plant responses. Many in soil feed nutrients 1-3 times per week with nutrients, and may water more frequently.

Can FloraFlex Nutrients be used with or in DWC/RDWC (recirculating systems)?

Yes, our nutrients can be used in a RDWC setup. It is recommended to do a complete reservoir change out every 7-14 days. A good rule of thumb is to top off your reservoir with fresh water without any nutrients added, and adjust PH in between complete reservoir changes. Users will typically run a lower EC in veg and bloom (1.6-2.0).

How often should I change my reservoir in a deep water culture (DWC/RDWC) setup?

We recommend changing the full reservoir at least once every 7-14 days in a DWC or RDWC system. Once a week to match the feeding schedule is optimal.

Can I still use my V1 or B1 if it has turned hard from being left open?

It is a homogenous mix so it should still be usable once broken up and will dissolve in water with no issues even when hard.

Are FloraFlex Nutrients Organic?

FloraFlex nutrients are synthetic.

Why is a pH recommendation on the Full Tilt feeding schedule?

This is for the Foliar Veg or Bloom.

If I want to add Power Si and/or CalMag to the Full Tilt Schedule, what order should I add them?

1. Power si
2. Cal/mag
3. V1 or B1
4. V2 or B2
5. Bulky B or Full Tilt (when applicable), plants best absorb nutrients grown hydroponically between a pH range of 5.3-6.3.

I ordered the FloraFlex Nutrient Kit, do I need to feed every watering, every other watering, or once a week with the nutrient water solution?

Feed every watering in DWC, rockwool or coco. In soil it depends on what elements are already in the blend.

How long do FloraFlex Nutrients stay good in a reservoir?

Most change the reservoir once a week when only using our nutrients, but it could last up to 6 months with agitation to prevent the water from becoming stagnant. 7 days max once incorporating any other additive.

Do I need to agitate or mix the nutrients in the reservoir?

You do not need constant agitation, just a few minutes every 30-60 minutes and/or before irrigation events are best practices.

Can I add more nutrients to my already mixed solution or reservoir?

Yes, just make sure you are adding the parts in the same ratio and are achieving your EC.

Can I add other nutrients or additives in with FloraFlex Nutrients?

Yes, you would need to monitor the EC levels and make sure the additional nutrients are mixed in after completely dissolving the Floraflex Nutrients.

Can I grow from start to finish using only FloraFlex Bloom Nutrients?

Yes. See our Super Simple Feeding Schedule. linkto it

Can I use the veg nutrients in the bloom stage to tide me over till I get more nutrients?

We do not recommend it, but if you need to get by for a few days use V1:V2 at a 0.5:1 ratio.

Why have my FloraFlex Nutrients changed color?

If it is still in the bag or a container and has changed colors it is from humidity getting into the bags. It can still be used, we recommend a dry cool environment and of course sealing them so no air gets in.

Do your nutrients have microbial properties?

No, you do not need anything other than the No Cal Mag Full Tilt Schedule.

Can I switch to FloraFlex Nutrients mid cycle?

We do not recommend changing nutrients after week 3 of bloom.

Do you recommend recirculating or drain to waste with your nutrients?

We never recommend a recirculation setup. Drain to waste is pretty standard in Big Ag and commercial grows. Below are a few reasons that make drain to waste the optimal option.

1. pH doesn’t fluctuate as much.
2. Ability to feed a fresh nutrient solution each watering.
3. Less chance of developing root rot.
4. System itself stays cleaner.
5. You are able to flush properly.
6. Better control over what is being fed to your plants.

Depending on your growing medium you should only have 2-10% runoff per plant, if that. See our Crop Steering Guides in our How To Grow section of the website.

What is the mixing order when using a Silica with FloraFlex Nutrients.

Silicate is added first, allow it to sit in the reservoir for 5 minutes before adding anything else. Lastly you would mix in the FloraFlex Nutrients in order of our Full Tilt Schedule..

Can I use Power Si at their recommended dosage along with the Full Tilt Schedule.

Yes.

Do I start the week 3 nutrients at day 15 or day 21?

Day 15.

Can your nutrients be used in soil?

Many in soil typically start at a lower strength feed (50-80%), depending on what elements are already in your soil, then decrease or increase as needed based on plant response.

Is it okay to feed at the recommended EC if I only feed once a day?

Gauge plant responses, ensure 20-25% runoff and keep an eye on the runoff ph, since you will have less control over drybacks when hand watering. Raise the EC if the runoff pH is drifting more than .5 upwards or you notice deficiencies/light green growth. Decrease EC if the pH runoff is dropping more than .5 of the input and/or you see tip burn.

What happens if my EC is not exact to the Full Tilt Schedule after inputting the exact weight?

You may need slightly more or less depending on your starting water.

Can or should I use CalMag with FloraFlex Nutrients?

Additional CalMag is not needed with our nutrients. But you can run the Full Tilt Schedule at 90% strength when buffering your water with CalMag.

Can I use enzymes or CalMag along with the FloraFlex Nutrients in my RDWC/DWC system?

Yes, you can use enzymes with our nutrients in your RDWC setup, but additional CalMag is not needed

What is the maximum starting water EC for FloraFlex Nutrients.

We recommend that your starting water be under 0.7 EC before adding nutrients, an RO system is needed for anything above.

When should I begin using nutrients when starting seedlings?

Once the seedlings have sprouted begin using V1:V2 at 2-3 grams each per gallon.

What EC should I feed my clones?

3g each B1:B2 or 1.8 EC.

I want to soak my 40/40 cubes in B1:B2, but only need one liter as opposed to a gallon, how many grams of each should I use?

.75 grams each B1:B2.
